Does VMware modify the original source code when repackaging into VMware vFabric Enterprise Ready Server? (2008469)

Purpose

This article provides information about whether VMware modifies the original source code when repackaging into the
VMware vFabric Enterprise Ready Server product.

Resolution

In general, VMware does not alter any of the source code released from Apache Software Foundation. VMware guarantees cross-compatibility with the Apache Software Foundation release.

Occasionally, however, VMware backports fixes or improvements into older versions. For example, the Apache 2.0 proxy modules bundled for VMware vFabric Enterprise Ready Server contains some stability and scalability enhancements backported from the Apache 2.2 source tree.
