Using the AllowProxyPASV option with the FTP module in Apache HTTP Server, or Pivotal Web Server (2010349)

Purpose

This article provides information on using the AllowProxyPASV FTPOption with the FTP module in Apache HTTP Server and Pivotal Web Server

Resolution

The mod_ftp.so module, or FTP module, is used to allow a FTP data transfer between a client and a FTP-enabled Web server. The FTPOptions directive is used to set variables in the server or virtual host configuration that supports FTP. The AllowProxyPASV option permits connection to the server's data channel when it originates from an IP address other than the control channel client's IP address. This affects both PASV and EPSV data connections.

However, using the AllowProxyPASV option is not recommended because proxy FTP is rarely used and presents a potential security issues. For more information, see the Apache HTTP Server Version 2.2 documentation.
