GPFDIST Error: "HTTP Response Code 404" , "404 File Not Found"

Symptom

gpfdist fails when loading files and gives the following error message:

   2014/06/23 11:16:06 ERROR> DatabaseObject.pm:40 DatabaseObject::logError -  Can't start copying from external table into staging table table_load :ERROR: http response code 404 from gpfdist (gpfdist://etl01:9108/event-table_v2*.gz): HTTP/1.0 404 file not\
found (url.c:326) (seg12 slice1 sdw3-seg10:40002 pid=4093) (cdbdisp.c:1476)

Cause

Check the log files for messages as follows:

insert into table_load

This error message is indicating that the file that gpfdist wants to load cannot be found at the specified location. Due to this error the INSERT will fail. 

Resolution

  1. Ensure the file exists on the location.
  2. If you are using any wild character in gpfdist make sure that there are no files that are being removed when the loading operation is in progress.
