Understanding RabbitMQ Support Cycle

Symptoms
Pivotal Technical Support always recommends that you upgrade to the latest RabbitMQ release to take advantage of new features and bug fixes. However, if you are unable to keep your system up to date understanding the RabbitMQ Support Cycle will help you plan the upgrade up front.

Resolution
To determine the end of general support first of all check if your RabbitMQ is a commercial release or open-source version. Secondly check if its a major or a minor version. Then follow the following guidelines:
  • Major version: 3 years for both OSS and commercial
  • Minor version:
    • 12 months for OSS from release date
    • 18 months for commercial from release date
Example
In case of the version 3.1.0, which is a major release:
A. Commercial release:
B. Open-source version:

Where to find the release dates?
A. Commercial releases:
  • Pivotal RabbitMQ version 3.2.4 and later see release date on download  page.
  • vFabric RabbitMQ versions prior to 3.2.4 see product page
B. Open-source version:
