gpdbrestore of a Partition Table does not Restore the Data after the Command was Successful

Environment

Pivotal Greenplum (GPDB) below 4.2.8.0 and 4.3.2.0

Symptom

Backed up the full database and attempting to restore a partition table using the below command

gpdbrestore -T public.sales -t 20110209131701

completes successfully, but no data is visible when issuing a select.

Cause

This was a limitation with the gpdbrestore utility and an enhancement request (19246) was filed, the issue is now fixed in the versions above 4.2.8.0 and 4.3.2.0 onwards.

Resolution

-- Upgrade to 4.2.8.0 & 4.3.2.0 or greater to avoid the issue.

Workaround

-- Restore the full database

-- or supply all the child partition in the gpdbrestore command, for eg.s

$ gpdbrestore -T public.sales_1_prt_1,public.sales_1_prt_2,public.sales_1_prt_3,public.sales_1_prt_4,public.sales_1_prt_5,public.sales_1_prt_6 [...]
