gpdbrestore of a partition table does not restore the data even after the command was successful

Environment

Pivotal Greenplum(GPDB) Version < 4.2.8.0 & 4.3.2.0

Problem

Backed up full database and attempting to restore a partition table using the below command

gpdbrestore -T public.sales -t 20110209131701

completes sucessfully, but no data is visible when issuing a select.

Cause

This was a limitation with the gpdbrestore utility and a enhancement request (19246) was filed, the issue is now fixed from version above 4.2.8.0 & 4.3.2.0 onwards.

Solution

-- Upgrade to 4.2.8.0 & 4.3.2.0 or greater to avoid the issue.

Workaround

-- Restore the full database

-- or supply all the child partition in the gpdbrestore command , for eg.s

$ gpdbrestore -T public.sales_1_prt_1,public.sales_1_prt_2,public.sales_1_prt_3,public.sales_1_prt_4,public.sales_1_prt_5,public.sales_1_prt_6 [...]
