Error in running ipmitool & ipmiutil "Could not open device at /dev/ipmi0 or /dev/ipmi/0 or /dev/ipmidev/0"

Product Version
 DCA  v2.x

While ipmitool or ipmiutil commands are running, the system is unable to identify the file and the driver; therefore reports an error:

[root@mdw ~]# ipmitool sdr type Memory
Could not open device at /dev/ipmi0 or /dev/ipmi/0 or /dev/ipmidev/0: No such file or directory
Get Device ID command failed
Unable to open SDR for reading

You can workaround the problem by following the below steps.

1: Load the driver

[root@mdw ~] modprobe ipmi_devintf

2: Check if the driver is loaded

[root@smdw ~]# lsmod | grep -i ipmi
ipmi_devintf 7729 2

3: Execute ipmiutil or ipmitool command to verify if they execute successfully

4 [Optional]: If ipmitool or ipmiutil still does not work after loading the drivers, try restarting ipmi server using:

[root@smdw ~]# service ipmi restart
Stopping all ipmi drivers: may be in use [FAILED]
Starting ipmi drivers: [ OK ]

5: Restart dial home services to ensure that all the dial home alerts are sent to SYR.
