Pivotal Greenplum (GPDB) 184.108.40.206
When users attempt to stop the database, gpstop fails with an error: "list index out of range". The error message is shown below:
20150909:23:59:30:107806 gpstop:mdw1:gpadmin-[CRITICAL]:-gpstop failed. (Reason='list index out of range') exiting...
The issue has been identified and worked on via JIRA ticket MPP-25896.
Upgrade to GPDB version 220.127.116.11. The new version has this issue fixed.
If you are on the affected version, follow the instructions as mentioned below:
- Check if any of the Postgres process has been left over after gpstop.
gpssh -f all_host " ps -ef | grep postgres | grep -v grep "
- If there is one, start the database in master only mode.
- Issue gpstop again.
