Dialhome Email is Not Working because the Customer's Mail Server is not Able to Relay Email Messages

Symptom

When setting up the DCA email alert for dialhome, setup fails due to the following error message: "Unable to relay for emailalert@emc.com"

Note: Below is the mail log entry from the DCA /opt/connectemc/logs dir.

Cause 

This error is an indication that the email server being used by the customer's in the /opt/connectemc/ConnectEMC_config.xml config file, in the email alert section, is not allowed to relay messages for the email address setup in the file.

Resolution

This is an issue with the customer internal mail server. The customer will need to configure their mail server to allow it to relay for the EMC email address emailalert@emc.com.

Additional Information:

If the customer receives the same mail error for their internal email address that they receive dialhome email alerts for, then again their internal email server is not able to relay for the email address they have set up in the /opt/connectemc/ConnectEMC_config.xml config file. They will need to configure this on the file on their internal mail server.
