Cause

The yum repository cache is corrupt or inconsistent causing yum commands to fail and the installation of the Ambari Agent on the new node to fail.

Resolution

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Log into the new node as user root.
  2. Run yum clean all to clear the yum cache.
  3. Run yum repolist to confirm the repositories are working correctly once again.
  4. Try to add the node into the cluster via Ambari again.

Note: If the above does not help one of the repositories may have issues, move the repository files away from /etc/yum.repos.d/, one at a time and repeat the above steps until the problem repository has been found.
