How to Change the Ops Manager Passphrase

Environment

Pivotal Cloud Foundry® (PCF) Ops Manager Version 1.7.x

Purpose

This article discusses how to change the Ops Manager passphrase.

During the initial installation of Pivotal Ops Manager, the user is prompted to set a passphrase. This passphrase is used to encrypt Ops Manager data.

A user may need to change this passphrase after the installation has been completed. For example, to comply with organization's security policy.

Procedure

Follow the steps below to change the Ops Manager passphrase:

  1. In Ops Manager 1.7, click "Admin" in the upper right corner and go to "Settings". You will then have the option to change the passphrase.
  2. Enter the current passphrase, the new passphrase, and also confirm the new passphrase.
  3. Finally, click the "Update" button.

Impacts or Risks

Please note that the passphrase cannot be recovered. So, it is important to keep the back up of the passphrase.
