How to change the Ops Manager passphrase?

This article discusses how to change the Ops Manager passphrase.

During the initial installation of Pivotal Ops Manager, the user is prompted to set a passphrase. This passphrase is used to encrypt Ops Manager data.

A user may need to change this passphrase after the installation has been completed. For example to comply with company security policy. 


Here are the steps to change the Ops Manager passphrase:

  1. In Ops Manager 1.7, if you click admin in the upper right corner and go to Settings. You will then have the option to change the passphrase.
  2. Enter the current passphrase, the new passphrase and also confirm the new passphrase.
  3. Finally, click the Update button.

Impacts or Risks

Please note that the passphrase cannot be recovered, so it is important that the passphrase is backed up.
