When running Greenplum Database 4.3.7.x or 4.3.8.x on any release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 or CentOS 7, large workloads might hang in the workload.
Current GPDB 4.3.8.x release notes have the following warnings:
" Warning: When running Greenplum Database 4.3.7.x or 4.3.8.x on any release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 or CentOS 7, large workloads might hang in the workload. This is caused by these kernel bugs referenced by Red Hat.
- Bug 1238749 - Backport rhashtable changes from upstream
- Bug 1316093 - Backport of da314c9923fe and 1f770c0a09 into RHEL-7
It is advised not to run Greenplum Database on RHEL 7 or CentOS 7 until the bugs are resolved and patched. Alternatively, a customer can contact Red Hat directly and request a fix before a kernel patch is released. Red Hat might, at its discretion, supply a kernel hotfix that includes fixes for bugs. "
This is caused by a RHEL7 Kernel bug.
The fix will be incorporated into the future general release of RHEL7.
In case customers want to have hotfix before the next formal maintenance release of RHEL, they can contact RedHat and request the hot fix. For customers information, following hot fix has been tested and proved to solve the reported issue - kernel-3.10.0-327.27.1.el7.x86_64.tar.bz2
